GET TO KNOW ME My name is Adina. Movement is my passion. |
My name is Adina Taylor and I am a senior pre-physical therapy Allied Health major at Cedarville University. Upon completing my undergraduate education this spring, I will be attending the Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of Dayton. As a pre-physical therapy student, my desire is to help people heal through movement. My own journey into loving movement came as traditional medicine failed to bring relief for the constant headache I got at age 16. Shortly after the headache onset, I began practicing yoga. It did not take me long to fall in love with the practice. A few months and many physical therapy sessions later, I began swimming. Swimming has been a steady in my life that helps me to cope physically and mentally with chronic pain. At age 19, I began learning aerial silks. Flowing on the ground, in the water, or in the air distracts my mind from the pain and helps my body to more efficiently cope.
Reading and writing have played a tremendous role in my life. I love reading and spend much of my time reading for school or enjoyment. Reading has been crucial in the many hours spent researching my rare diagnosis. The medical articles and patient experiences I read directly impact the route of treatment I choose to pursue. It is also vital to staying informed as a patient. My doctors and therapists appreciate when I have read thoroughly about a topic. It makes communicating much easier for the both of us. Writing has proved to be very beneficial in communicating effectively with health professionals and succeeding in college despite the daily struggle with pain. Writing also brings therapeutic relief to me at times. I greatly look forward to growing in the area of writing and research in this class. |
Movement is an integral part of my life. Even as a full-time college student, movement has become as important to me as the air I breathe.

My goal is to enable people to reach the full potential for their health and learn to enjoy moving their body through various means.
